OSUN2022: PDP IN DILEMMAS AS OVER VOTING DETECTED

Over voting detected in the Gubernatorial election results in Ede, Osun state at the tribunal.

There are indications that the last might have not been heard of the last gubernatorial elections in Osun state.

This is coming from the background that the election tribunal have established a fact on a possible over voting in over 70 polling units, in the state.

These polling units are predominantly, areas of strength of the opposition party, the PDP.

Unconfirmed sources suggested that the candidate of the PDP, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, has submitted a plea for cancellation of identified over voting as against outright cancellation of elections result in the affected polling units.

Senator Adeleke agrees there was over voting in 749 polling units and pleads for the subtractions of the votes instead of outright cancellation of the units results.

according to the Electoral Act has stated in section 51 (2) that results of elections in any polling units, where number of votes is more than number of accredited voters, should be cancelled out-rightly.

The state government, a source who pleaded anonymity when stated that, “we have a good case against the election results”.

Our source in the government house, confirmed the submission of the PDP candidate, as he submitted to the tribunal.

It was recently reported that INEC had earlier confirmed attempts of hackers on their website, this has elicited agitations of possible compromise of the electoral process in the state, during the last Gubernatorial elections.

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has revealed how fraudulent people attempted to hack into the INEC Results Viewing iRev Portal the commission’s portal during the last Ekiti and Osun elections with a view to changing the polling units-level results but that they failed.
